On a Roll

The title of this piece reflects its lively, forward-moving character. It begins with a soul groove over which a concise theme develops, inviting the orchestra and the audience to dance. In the slower middle section, a blues develops with optional solo parts. After the return of the soul beat, the piece ends with a striking repetition of the opening theme. On a Roll can be played as an effective opening piece or as a lively rhythmic piece at a concert, but also at competitions. On a Roll was commissioned by the Zurich Brass Music Association for the Zurich Cantonal Music Festival 2024 in Urdorf/Schlieren.
